The sun was rising from beyond the sea horizon
at first, only a few weak beams of light could be seen but
as the minutes passed by, the light became stronger and stronger
the reflection of it on the surface of the sea became stronger as well
I was sitting by the sea and saw the whole scene in front of me

Soon the sun itself looked up from beyond the horizon
and its brightness made my eyes sting, I turned my face
away from the sun and looked at the beach and the forest
that lay beyond it. The return of the sun also meant
the return of “the fighting” It always did
for many years it had always been the same
a new day always meant a new fight

I sighed deeply, feeling so tired and sick of having to engage
in this madness every single day I wanted peace and tranquility,
but it seemed like no one else had the same wishes as I did
Atlas had always been a world of war and pain
for thousands of years, great wars had been going on
and millions of people had lost their lives because of them

Everything was about conquering new lands and defeating enemies
I turned my face towards the sun again and noticed that it was almost
completely visible now from beyond the horizon
at that moment I could hear a horn blowing loudly
from beyond the forest

It was a signal that I knew far too well.
It was the signal of war
I stood up and spread my wings
I made a jump up into the air and flapped my wings
My feet left the ground and I began to fly as fast as
I could towards my army that was waiting behind
the forest as I flew through the air,

I was thinking back to when I saw
the first beams of light from the horizon and how
they had been mirrored on the vast surface of the sea
I smiled and felt that whether or not I would survive the day
I had at least manage to see one of the few
beautiful things that were left on atlas.
